SMMTA Highlights Marine Career Opportunities at 2026 National Job Fair

SIMPSON BAY, ST. MAARTEN – October 2026 – The St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA) was pleased to represent St. Maarten’s marine and yachting industry at the 2026 National Job Fair, organized by the National Employment Services Center (NESC) and held on Thursday, September 24.

The National Job Fair brought together employers, job seekers and organizations from across St. Maarten, providing an opportunity for businesses to meet potential employees and for job seekers to learn more about the wide variety of careers available on the island. The 2026 event formed part of NESC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen connections between local employers and the workforce and to increase access to employment and career-development opportunities.

Promoting Careers in St. Maarten’s Marine Industry

The SMMTA participated on behalf of the wider marine industry, helping to raise awareness of the many different career paths available within St. Maarten’s important yachting and maritime sector.

The marine industry encompasses far more than jobs directly aboard yachts. Employment opportunities can be found in areas such as marine mechanics and engineering, electrical and electronics, boatbuilding and repair, rigging, painting and refinishing, refrigeration and air-conditioning, chandlery and marine retail, marina operations, administration, logistics, customer service and many other skilled trades and support services.

Several individual marine businesses were also represented with their own tables at the Job Fair, including FKG/IMM and Budget Marine, giving visitors the opportunity to speak directly with employers about their companies, career opportunities and the skills required within the industry.

Participation in events such as the National Job Fair is important to the SMMTA’s efforts to encourage more St. Maarten residents, and particularly young people entering the workforce, to consider the marine sector as a long-term career option.

St. Maarten has developed into one of the Caribbean’s major yachting centres, creating demand for both experienced professionals and people interested in developing technical, commercial and service-related skills.
